A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instill love in learning

Our yoga studio Buddhi Yoga opened in 2014 after our owners Amanda and Carolina had been teaching in La Jolla for over ten years. They both studied with some of the best instructors in the country and taught in Los Angeles before moving to San Diego. Carolina was certified in New York City and attributes many of her skills to Dharma Mittra and Elena Brower. He also studied intensely with Bryan Kest and Steven Earth in LA, both major influences in his way of teaching today. Amanda received her 200-hour Harmony Yoga certification with Chappy Foote and has also completed several workouts with Shiva Rae and Desiree Rumbauch. All of these teachers are highly respected people in the yoga community who have dedicated their lives to the practice. Amanda and Carolina decided to create a bright open space to nurture the best yoga San Diego has to offer in honor of their teachers.

The best yoga San Diego has to offer is Buddhi Yoga

Teachers are one of the most important things in any study, and this is what Buddhi Yoga does not compromise. Every schedule teacher is kind, knowledgeable, and a true embodiment of the philosophy behind physical practice. We don’t just hire anyone. Our instructors are truly a gift to our community and we choose humble, passionate, kind and special people in one way or another. The person we put in front of you to lead a class is really one of the best in San Diego.

A stage is almost a character of its own, influencing the other characters in a way that they are not even aware of

Our studio is perfectly located on the second floor above Lululemon, away from the activity of Girard Avenue. When we were looking at spaces, a quiet, secluded spot was at the top of the list. We knew we wanted large floor-to-ceiling windows with no mirrors and a minimalist approach to the aesthetics of the space. You will not find any Buddhas or tapestries hanging on the walls in Buddhi Yoga. You don’t need this kind of thing to make the space feel more “spiritual”. Our gray floors and green sea foam walls were designed to look like the ocean a few blocks away. The lush green courtyard is filled with green walls that students use as drishti when practicing their yoga movements. The high vaulted ceilings make us feel expansive and the people entering through our doors enhance the space with their positive energy. Visitors from other places often tell us that Buddhi Yoga is really the best yoga studio they have ever been to. Come see for yourself why this space hosts the best yoga in San Diego and choose from over sixty weekly classes for all levels.
