We’ve heard of Dos before and what not … but have we heard of online yoga editing? In this article, we’ll cover some basics of what you should and shouldn’t do during your online yoga teacher training to help you get the most out of your program!
Create a space for yourself. When participating in a course that requires you to take specific time to study and practice, it is important to allow for fluctuation. Remember to give yourself space and allow yourself to make adjustments that work for you! Time management can sometimes be overwhelming. Be patient with yourself as you navigate through it.
Do not do it
Don’t compare yourself to other students or teachers. This trip is exclusively yours. Everything you learn during these online yoga classes is specific to your learning experience. If you start comparing yourself to how other people manage their time, get certain positions or digest information, you will always have the feeling that you are competing. When we look outward, we forget the passion we hold inward, and the attention we should pay to our own practice is clouded by the need to go for the progress of others.
Ask for help. In this world, we have had to adapt a lot to translate everything into an online environment; this has been very difficult for physical activities like yoga. Being patient and realizing that you have resources on which to depend will always help you. Remember that you have the power to launch your practice, but it is the community aspect of yoga that keeps us interconnected and builds us when we feel confused or overwhelmed.
Do not do it
Forget about your studies. Returning to a learning environment can be difficult; learning new materials and learning a lot of new material can be shocking and can make your brain feel a little confused. When your brain feels a little tired, take a step back and re-evaluate how you choose to digest the information and how often you are. Maybe you just need to spend a little more physical time on your mat, or maybe you need to dig a little deeper into the vocabulary and philosophy behind the practice. Whatever it is, be sure to check the materials often. Make sure you sit on your mat often. Enrolling in online yoga teacher training is a commitment, but it can be tailored to your specific lifestyle.
Appreciate your teachings. Sometimes when we don’t have something physical to endure, it can be hard to appreciate. Although the physical materials of an online yoga teacher training are limited, the wealth of knowledge you gain is abundant. Remember to use your teachings as much as possible. Sit back and reflect on how this training of yoga teachers helps you to rise to your higher self. Realize the wisdom you have and the wisdom you gain each day that you make it a point to learn and practice. Paying for a course means nothing if you can’t find the real value of everything you’re doing. The world of yoga is so vast and has been expanding more and more over time. Grow with the teachings, grow with yourself, introduce yourself, be present, and honor all that your brain takes, even after the teachings are over.
Do not do it
Forget why you started. Getting certified in yoga may seem different to many different people. The most important part for any individual is their “why.” Why did you decide to enroll in online yoga teacher training? Remembering why you started in the first place can help you stay on track.
Thanks to yourself. YOU brought yourself here. You have registered for the course. All the work you do throughout your time in these yoga programs that you are doing for YOU. No one is in charge of attendance, no one is checked to see how much time you spend on practice; you have total control over your own outcome and what you take with you on this journey.
